Auction Survival Guide

Items To Take With You When Attending an Auction.
(For other auction tips, see the Auction Tips page.)

1.  Driver's License
This is mandatory.  You'll need to show your driver's license in order to register to bid.  The auction clerk will record your driver's license information before issuing a bid number (used to record winning bids.)  They will usually ask for your phone number as well.

2.  Cash
Not necessarily needed to pay for items.  Most auctions will allow payment via personal check.  Payment by credit card is often an option if the auction occurs at an auction house.  (The option to pay by credit card is less common when the auction occurs somewhere else.  Auctioneers aren't always able to accept mobile credit card payments.)

Many auctions provide concessions.  You may want to purchase something to eat or drink while at the auction and concessions are usually cash only.  $10 or so in small bills and change works well when it comes to concessions.

Paying for items by cash is always an option, and there are a few auctions where cash is the only payment option accepted.  (Storage Auctions being a prime example.)
